Aloha: Week 2

Aloha from MasterWorks Hawaii at YWAM Kona...again!
Week two is off to a busy start already, and we have a few photos to show for it.
Here are a few highlights of the past couple days.

After a packed first week, our group took our first trip to the nearby beach, about a 45-minute drive.  While there, most of us took advantage of this glorious hiking trail.  There were even a few whale sightings!

On Sunday morning, we had the privilege to worship with Hawaiian believers at the Mokuaikaua Church, which is where our concerts are held.  The morning included an encouraging sermon reminding us of our need for pure hearts before the Lord.

The University of the Nations (YWAM Base) has over 44 nationalities on campus, so we've had many opportunities to make friends from all over the world, all the while inviting them to our concerts!

Alas, no MasterWorks Festival is complete without hours of practice time!

When the night of our second concert arrived, we had a full church.
The audience was very receptive to the string chamber music and also enjoyed the hymn sing at the end, shown here.

After a busy weekend, we had the opportunity to tour Heavenly Hawaiian Coffee Farm with its owner, Dave Bateman.  We learned a lot about the process of growing and harvesting high-quality coffee.  But it didn't end there...

The coffee tour ended with a live MasterWorks quartet!
The faculty performed a few pieces in the Batemans' home/porch area as we sampled fresh coffee and appreciated God's beautiful creation.

This morning, we had the privilege of hearing from Loren Cunningham (right), founder of YWAM
He reminded us of the importance of faith and obedience and updated us on the current state of YWAM's expanding ministries across the globe.

All of that to say...It's been quite an adventure for us so far.  I am proud of all of the practice, lessons, and coaching of our students and faculty.  The results have been wonderful so far.  Check back in a few weeks for more photos and performance videos from MasterWorks Hawaii!
