A Hawaiian Photoblog

Not to induce envy in anyone's soul, but we are having a wonderful time at University of the Nations, Kona (YWAM) during the String Chamber Festival. A little background for those that don't know, this festival is a joint venture between YWAM and MasterWorks. Curious what it our lives look like here? Keep on scrolling!

Hawaii (the name of the state as a whole, but also the name of the specific island that we are on) is formed completely of hardened volcanic lava. As such, the coastlines are jagged, but beautiful.

This is our home for the 2 weeks of the festival: University of the Nations, Kona! It is such a beautiful place to live and rehearse.

See that church steeple? That's the church in which our three concerts are being performed. It is the oldest church in Hawaii, and the place that missionaries first landed on the island. Behind the church and all that vog (volcano fog), is one of the volcanoes on the island.

We have had 3 great discipleship/study times so far. The first was down on the
coast. It was a time to get to know one another and to discuss what it
means to be created in the image of God. The second and third studies,
we have heard from YWAM staff David Hamilton and Christine Colby, who
spoke about God's call on our lives and on the topic of worldview,
respectively.

We've had a bit of time to enjoy the beach, as well. Here are 5 of the
students. One student, Katie, is the girl behind the camera. All of these
photos are posted with her permission, and she retains the rights to
them.

Stay tuned for more photos and stories from the YWAM/MasterWorks Strings Festival!

P.S. This is posted later than our normal blog updates because of the time difference. Hawaii was the last state to see out 2011, and is 5 hours behind Eastern Standard Time.

P.P.S. Yes, we DO rehearse in our quartets. We just don't have pictures to prove it, because you know what a string quartet looks like already!
