Alumni: Nathaniel Hale
Nathaniel Hale
Winds AlumniAfter a three-year Bassoon Fellowship position with the New World Symphony Orchestral Academy, Nathaniel Hale came to the Masterworks Festival in the summer of 2002. In 2003 he was invited by my former teacher from the Aspen Music Festival, Per Hannevold, to come play as his second bassoon substitute in the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Norway. That lasted for two years, after which Nathaniel joined the Faculty of Masterworks Festival, England, in 2005 and won the Principal Bassoon position in the Malmo Opera Orchestra, Sweden thereafter. He took another audition and was offered a six-month contract with the Norrkoping Symphony, Sweden. During that time in Norrkoping, he auditioned and won a trial as Second Bassoonist with the Gothenburg Symphony, Sweden. Since 2008 Nathaniel has been living in the Chicago area doing some bassoon freelancing and studying part-time at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
