Bobby Nicholson

Strings Alumni

In 2006, Bobby graduated from The Peabody Conservatory and started his Masters Orchestra Performance at The Manhattan School of Music, where he completed his degree last May. From there he went to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he joined a quartet which served both as artist in residence and faculty for the Chapel Hill Chamber Music Workshop. Shortly thereafter, the Langlois Quartet was formed with fellow MasterWorks Alumni – Matt Kiefer, Nick Tavani, and Greg Luce. This summer the quartet performed at the MasterWorks Festival; in Vienna; at Crescendo in Hungary; and at the CPAF prayer retreat in Winchester, England. Bobby then returned to the States and settled in Cleveland, where he is now freelancing and taking auditions, one of which he won – he now playing in the Mansfield Symphony. He is also looking for students and hoping to start an interesting, exciting cello project, though more direction is needed. Bobby is enjoying practicing and being self-motivated since graduation while having the time to apply the the knowledge he has acquired during school. He gratefully asserts that "it seems I love the cello more every day!" He would also like to encourage you to completely trust in our Lord's provision, as He is continually witnessing it as a freelance musician!
