Nicholas J Tavani MD, PhD

Dr. Nicholas J. Tavani is a family physician, residency trained and board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine with 25 years of clinical experience with primary care patients.

Dr. Tavani grew up in the Washington D.C. area and went to college at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1980 where he also received his Master's Degree and PhD in Biophysics and Physiology. He has taught courses at the University of Maryland and George Mason University and spoken at seminars and conferences on issues in medicine, science and faith, marriage and family, and human physiology. He also teaches weekly Bible classes. In October 2008, he organized a regional science and faith conference in Washington DC called "What Darwin Didn't Know".  In September 2009, he addressed a health symposium at Morgan State University on "How To Stop Killing Ourselves - The Extraordinary Desire To Live". (DVDs available online at www.reasons.org and www.NCHBC.org). In September 2010 he addressed the Grace Fellowship Forum on "Dr. Luke Examines Jesus of Nazareth - A Clinical Perspective."

 He and his wife, Donna, and six sons have resided in Haymarket, Virginia for the past decade where they are involved in community, church, musical activities, soccer, and homeschool. He greatly enjoys outings with his family. Dr. Tavani and his wife have been involved in urban outreach ministry in the Washington D.C. area for many years. He plays piano for the Tavani Ensemble consisting of his wife and sons. He and his wife are founding board members of the Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship, sponsors of the MasterWorks Festival. They have sung with CPAF's Asaph Ensemble in venues in Washington D.C., Moscow, and Jerusalem.  Dr. Tavani has served since 2009 as President of the Washington D.C. chapter of Reasons To Believe, a science and faith think tank. He is also on the panel of Physicians for Community Involvement with the new Hylton Center for the Performing Arts in Manassas, Virginia.
